Puntos Fuertes: 6X optical zoom, Safe Digital Zoom up to 1.9X, good movie mode, 2.5 inch LCD screen, fast f2.8 lens, 2 AA Batteries, Excellent Lens Image Stabilization that works, Excellent Canon waterproof housing
Puntos Débiles: 2 AA batteries mean a slow flash recharge, but this doesn't matter much since image stabilazation and ISO settings allow me to take pictures indoors without flash, noticeable hum in the movie mode
I've been anticipating buying one of the 12X mega zooms by Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Kodak or Olympus for the last 18 months. When i looked at this camera in a local Office Depot, i was immediately sold. While the mega zooms weren't particularly pocketable, this camer was. The image stabilzation is one of the best if not the best. The LCD viewer looks like your floating gently over the picture...
Puntos Fuertes: Image stabilization, small size, 6X optical zoom, available manual controls, use of 2AA batteries, great macro mode
Puntos Débiles: Flash recharge time, battery/memory card compartment and door could have been designed better
Overall this is a great camera and I would recommend it. The 6X zoom is a plus over other cameras in the same size and MP range, as well as the addition of image stabilization. I have noticed the IS helps a lot when your hands are a little shaky. The flash does take time to recharge and it is frustrating to not be able to take another picture for several seconds, but most of the time this is not...
Puntos Fuertes: Fine 6X zoom; effective image stabilization; full range of manual controls; very good macro performance; useful movie mode; logical easy-to-use menu system; excellent PC software.
Puntos Débiles: None.
This camera replaced my Nikon 2500, so it's my second digital camera. I really wanted manual controls - I began photography 40 years ago with an SLR, but didn't want to lug a digital slr around. I wanted good available light performance for indoors - I'm not a fan of flash unless absolutely necessary. The A710IS is excellent - even at my age (64) I can handhold the camera at 3/10 of a second,...
Puntos Fuertes: Takes wonderful pictures and has more features than I'll ever use.
Puntos Débiles: It does have a slow flash recharge, but I find the camera takes the best pictures without ever needing a flash.
My friend and I recently took a trip to Italy where I used my camera for the first time. My friend owns two cameras(Nikon and Sony) and was impressed with my camera and the quality of it's pictures. I am very happy with this camera, which took me a long time to decide upon with so many different cameras available out there.
Puntos Fuertes: Perfect picture on first shot
Puntos Débiles: red-eye
I have the 710IS, my previous camera for 4 years was a Kodak LS443. Right away I noticed some amazing differences - first, it's ready to take a picture about 1.5 seconds after opening. It also takes perfect pictures, whereas my previous camera seemed to require 2-3 shots to get it just right due to too bright a flash. This is in part due to the fact that it takes the picture the second you hit...
Puntos Fuertes: IS works great; good photos without flash; 6X optical; stitching photos is easy
Puntos Débiles: Need to purchase adequate storage card.
I have had the camera a couple of months and have taken 400-some photos. Have some great photos with 6X-optical and 24X-optical/digital. I use the "artificial light" setting most of the time indoors without flash with great results. The camera is small enough to go along with me, but not too small for my big hands. The "landscape" setting produces good depth to photos. My previous Kodak camera...
Puntos Fuertes: Picture Quality, In-Camera Editing Options, Ease of Use, IS Feature, 6x zoom
Puntos Débiles: Zaps batteries!
This camera performs really well. It does eat the AA batteries, but at least it's AA compatible! The in-camera editing options/modes are great, although, admittedly, I've not figured them all out, yet. The software that is included with the Camera is very Picasa-like. I like it. I've only used the auto exposure modes, but as I use the camera more, I'm surely going to take advantage of the manual...
Puntos Fuertes: SMALL, COMPACT FOR CARRYING. TAKES CLEAR PICTURES AND EASY TO USE. I LIKE THE BODY FOR A GOOD GRIP WHEN TAKING PICTURES.
Puntos Débiles: HAVE NOT FOUND ONE YET....HOPE I DON'T!
MY PRIOR 3 DIGITAL CAMERAS HAVE BEEN KODAK AND SOME HAVE NOT HELD UP WELL AND I WAS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER BRAND TO TRY. SEVERAL FRIENDS HAVE CANON AND SUGGESTED I TRY IT. I JUST RECEIVED IT BUT SO FAR JUST TURNING IT ON IS BETTER. STARTS UP QUICKLY AND IS READY TO GO. I LIKE THAT. THE PICTURES I HAVE TAKEN HAVE BEEN GREAT; EVEN INDOORS. I HAVE A LOT OF READING TO DO TO UNDERSTAND ALL THE FUNCTIONS...
Puntos Fuertes: This camera lets choose many features that allows you to take photos depending on the lightning, speed, occasions, etc... Wide LCD screen. Can plug in to the TV and watch images and movies.
Puntos Débiles: Battery ran out so quickly, takes a while for flasher to charge. It wouldn't fit in your shirt pocket.
This camera takes good photos and it has many features that let you choose the way you want to take your photo. Major problem I see with this camera is the high battery usage. Therefore, you need get some rechargeable battery set (AA-size Ni-MH Battery; works longer than other normal batteries). Shooting Capacity :- Still Image: approx. 100 shots (AA-size Alkaline Battery), approx. 360 shots...
Along with a 6x optical image stabilized zoom, the compact PowerShot A710 IS is packed with features that make it a worthy successor to the popular PowerShot A700 it replaces. Improvements include a 7.1-megapixel sensor and new photo effects that add to the already extensive creative possibilities. The PowerShot A710 IS maintains many of the features that made its predecessor so successful,...

At first, the PowerShot A710 IS doesn't look very different to its predecessor. However, the Canon PowerShot A710 IS really is an improvement and a much more complete camera. You could say that, with the Canon PowerShot A710 IS, the A series has grown up and that it is the perfect stepping stone on the way to a digital SLR camera.

Let's take a moment to applaud the introduction of optical image stabilization in the A-Series with the Canon PowerShot A710. Nothing helps improve photography more than some form of shake compensation, and the A710 has what it takes to stabilize your low light shots. Canon's retention of an optical viewfinder on the PowerShot A710, no matter how spare, is also to be applauded, at a time when so...

In a way, the A710 is sort of like a poor man's PowerShot G7. Both cameras offer a 6X zoom lens with image stabilization, a 2.5" LCD, full manual controls, and conversion lens support. Of course, the G7 has a 10 Megapixel sensor, more bells and whistles, and the ability to record longer movies. Then again, it costs $200 more, so it has to. Priced just below $400, the PowerShot A710 IS has a lot...

Great camera!
Puntos Fuertes: Picture quality. 6x optical zoom. Compact size. Image stabilization. Ergonomics. Lots of features. Rechargable AA batteries last seemingly forever.
Puntos Débiles: Red-eye flash. Slow recycle between shots. Battery/memory card door could be better designed. No RAW picture mode.
Another fine camera from Canon. Takes very good pictures -- nice detail and color. Image stabilization really helps take pix in lower light. Camera has just about all the features that one could want in non-SLR digital camera -- except for RAW mode. The red-eye reduction flash mode could be better -- I seem to be getting red-eye in 1/2 of my flash photos even though I have the red reduction on.
